Roofing Service Areas Across Melbourne
We are roof tilers based in Burwood, working across Melbourne’s eastern, south-eastern and bayside suburbs. Terracotta and concrete tiled roofs only.
The map below shows the area we cover. If your suburb sits inside it, we will come out and inspect the roof at no charge. If you are just outside, call us anyway — we travel further for re-roofing and heritage work than we do for a single repair.
Suburbs we cover
Boroondara and the inner east
Our home ground, and where most of our work is. Camberwell, Hawthorn, Hawthorn East, Kew, Kew East, Balwyn, Balwyn North, Canterbury, Surrey Hills, Mont Albert, Deepdene, Glen Iris and Ashburton.
These suburbs are full of Federation, Edwardian and interwar homes with original terracotta, and large parts of Boroondara sit under a heritage overlay. That affects what you are allowed to put back on the roof, and it is why we still match profiles most roofers no longer carry.
Whitehorse and the outer east
Burwood, Burwood East, Box Hill, Box Hill South, Blackburn, Mont Albert North, Vermont, Vermont South, Forest Hill, Nunawading, Glen Waverley, Mount Waverley and Ringwood.
Our workshop and showroom are in Burwood, so this is the quickest area for us to reach. Housing here is mostly postwar — concrete tile on brick veneer, plus a lot of pergolas, carports and outbuildings that need tiling to match the house.
Stonnington, Glen Eira and the south-east
Malvern, Malvern East, Armadale, Toorak, Prahran, Windsor, Caulfield, Caulfield North, Caulfield South, Elsternwick, Carnegie, Murrumbeena, Chadstone, Bentleigh and Ormond.
Bayside
Brighton, Hampton, Sandringham, Beaumaris, Black Rock, Highett, Mentone and Cheltenham.
Roofs closer to the bay weather differently. Salt is hard on metal fixings and valley irons, and exposed south-westerly elevations push driving rain into flashings that would be fine further inland. Terracotta itself handles salt well, which is part of why so much of it survives down there.
What we do across all of these areas
Every service is available anywhere on the map:
- Re-roofing and full roof replacement — stripping the old roof and relaying with new terracotta or concrete tile
- Roof restoration — cleaning, re-bedding, repointing and recoating a roof that is structurally sound
- Roof repairs and leak detection — cracked and slipped tiles, failed pointing, valleys and flashings
- Roof maintenance — inspections, gutter clearing and preventative work
- Roof ventilation installation — solar vents, whirlybirds and ducted systems
- New roofs — extensions, second storeys, pergolas, carports, verandahs and outbuildings
- Terracotta and concrete roof tiles supplied from our Burwood showroom
Why local knowledge matters on a tiled roof
Melbourne’s tiled roofs came in waves, and you can date a house fairly well by what is on top of it. Marseille-pattern terracotta through the Federation and Edwardian years. Wunderlich and early Monier terracotta between the wars. Concrete tile almost everywhere from the 1950s on.
Each era has its own failure points and its own matching problem. A 1920s terracotta roof in Canterbury needs a profile no longer made in volume. A 1960s concrete roof in Vermont South usually needs recoating rather than replacing. Knowing which is which before quoting is the difference between a repair and an unnecessary re-roof, and it is why we inspect before we quote rather than pricing from the kerb.
Frequently asked questions
Do you charge for a quote outside Camberwell?
No. The inspection and the written quote are free anywhere in the area on the map. We get on the roof, photograph what we find, and talk you through it.
My suburb is not on the list. Will you still come?
Probably, particularly for re-roofing, restoration or heritage work. Call 03 9888 7088 and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth us travelling, rather than quote and then add a travel charge.
Where are you based?
Unit 26, 25-37 Huntingdale Road, Burwood. The showroom is there too, so you can look at tile profiles and colours in person rather than off a brochure.
Do you work on metal or Colorbond roofs?
No. Terracotta and concrete tile only, anywhere in the area. That is deliberate — it is what we have done since the 1930s.
Do you handle heritage overlay properties?
Yes, and many companies avoid them. Much of Boroondara and parts of Stonnington are under overlay, which usually means matching the existing tile rather than substituting it. We can advise on what a council is likely to accept before you apply.
